Halotherapy became a meaningful part of Jim and Jen’s own wellness routine. They were deeply impressed by its benefits, the natural, non-invasive approach, and the simplicity that delivered real relief for a variety of conditions—all while providing a deep sense of relaxation. Inspired by their experience, they embarked on an in-depth journey of research and planning, driven by a desire to share this wellness practice with their new community. What began as a personal discovery soon grew into a true passion—and The Salt Works and Spa was born.
After many years of living in Vermont and vacationing in Maine, James and Jennifer decided to make Maine their permanent home in 2018. With James bringing a background in sales and Jennifer coming from the dental field, they began brainstorming their next chapter.
Us! While Halotherapy has been in North America since the mid 1990's, it is still new to some people, while others have experienced it already and have made it part of their wellness routine, others are just finding out about it's benefits and we love bringing information, the experience and becoming part of their wellness routines.
We opened less than 12 months before the pandemic, re-opening was tougher afterwards but have now been open over 7 years and feel we have solidified our existence. Advertising is great but we love the word of mouth referrals and clients we have come in. Social media has its place but can be overwhelming, challenging and time consuming~we prefer having people come in and see the place for themselves, experience the peaceful and calm setting just walking through the door.
Continuing to offer and serve the communities with the best experience. Our massage therapists, esthetician and nail tech have all been with us for years and we value what they know and offer to our clients, building on that and offering people a wellness spa for themselves and their family.
All of them! Seriously, salt therapy and the infrared sauna for sure and who doesn't love massage, facials and a great mani/pedi to make you feel and look good!
