Founder Q&A
I've been passionate about this industry for some time and started making my own melts in 2020 during the peak of the pandemic. I waited until my 'return to work' to ensure I was 100% certain about a business venture taking root. During that time, I perfected my craft, corrected mistakes, secured recipes, and considered how I wanted to create my brand. Finally, I brought my hobby to life in early 2023! I'm so excited to offer scented products on the market that are a safe/natural alternative, with unique scents (including some blends I created myself)!
I was born and raised in Maine! My life started here and then grew. I couldn’t imagine running my business anywhere else. I do sell online to anyone in the US, but my events and sales primarily are focused in Maine!
I’d like to think I’m unique because of my own personal style, aesthetic, and the items I offer. I know there’s always going to be someone out there that may be similar or have ideas that might be parallel to my own. Quite honestly, I* make my business unique with my journey and experience that led me to this road. I’ve created a community of fellow moms, book lovers, and even just shopaholics like myself! I’ve found my people and that makes this more fun!
The biggest challenge is always the economy. Prices go up, sales often go down because we’re all just trying to get by! I do my best to roll with the punches without having to compromise my value or raise my prices. It’s an ongoing rollercoaster, but that’s normal as a business owner since we need to make a living AND do right by our customers.
I’m exploring ways to continue growing and offering more. I’m working on crafting hair glitter as a potential product. But I’m also preparing for my Fall scent menu to be released soon!
Wax melts! This is what started SSS and what continues to drive me. I wanted to have safer melts for my own that aren’t going to harm pets/children with hazardous inhalants. So wax melts are still my own personal #1 seller, and what brings many of my customers back from more each season!
I absolutely adore the SMCC campus where it meets Williams Beach and the Lighthouses. I’ve been going to this area since 2014 when I first attended for my undergrad degree. It’s such an underrated area for those of us residing in central Maine.
My favorite hobby (other than crafting) would be reading!! I’m a book girlie. I prefer fantasy, thriller, and mystery books and could talk for hours about my favorite series!
Lavender was a scent I grew up around. My mother loved lavender, many cleaning supplies she used were even lavender scented. I recall as a child, my Aunt Michelle would always compliment and savor the scent of lavender after my mom had mopped the kitchen floors. To honor both my mother and aunt, I chose lavender as my logo to always have a piece of love in my business. If it’s not made with love, then I’m not making it. 💜
