Founder Q&A

Q · What inspired you to start this business?

Creating a space for the community to come together and create. Create connections, movement and joy.

Q · Why Maine?

What better place to be? My co-founder and I are both Maine natives, so it seems natural to open a community centered business here in our home 🏡

Q · What makes your business unique?

What makes The Eight Limbs Center unique is that we're not just offering services—we're creating a space for genuine human connection. In a world that often feels rushed and disconnected, we wanted to build something different: a place where wellness, creativity, and community can exist under one roof. Whether someone walks through our doors for a yoga class, a portrait session, a workshop, or simply a conversation, our goal is for them to feel seen, welcomed, and valued. The Eight Limbs Center is a collaborative space built by local women, for our community, with the belief that healing, self-expression, and connection are most powerful when they're shared.

Q · What has been your biggest challenge?

Our biggest challenge has been building something that doesn't fit neatly into a traditional box. The Eight Limbs Center was created from a vision of bringing wellness, creativity, and community together in one shared space. While we believe deeply in that mission, introducing a new concept means helping people understand not just what we do, but why we do it. Like many small businesses, we've also navigated the challenges of limited resources, wearing many hats, and balancing growth with sustainability. However, each challenge has strengthened our commitment to creating a welcoming space where people can connect, heal, learn, and feel a sense of belonging.

Q · What are you working on next?

We're currently focused on growing our roots. As a brand-new center, we're spending this season listening to our community, building relationships, and creating experiences that help people feel connected—to themselves and to one another. We have exciting workshops, classes, and collaborative events in the works, but more than anything, we're working toward becoming a space where people feel welcome, inspired, and at home. The future is still unfolding, and honestly, that's one of the most exciting parts.
