Founder Q&A
Cristall Boutique was created from a passion for supporting local makers, building community, and offering a shopping experience that’s about more than just buying things. My goal was to create a welcoming space where people can discover unique products, connect with others, support small businesses, and make lasting memories through creative, hands-on experiences.
Why Maine? Quite simply, it’s home. I grew up in Maine, my family is here, and I’ve always felt a strong connection to the people and communities that make this state so special. Maine is filled with incredibly talented local makers who are creative, hardworking, and genuine—the kind of people I want to support and help succeed. When I found the location for Cristall Boutique, it just felt right. The building has been part of the local community for as long as I can remember, and I loved the idea of bringing new life to a place with so much history. Being able to build a business in a community I know and care about while creating opportunities for other small businesses and makers has made the journey even more meaningful.
What makes Cristall Boutique unique is that we’re more than just a place to shop—we’re a place to connect, create, and support one another. Alongside boutique clothing, gifts, and accessories, we proudly showcase products from local makers and artisans, giving customers access to items they won’t find in big-box stores. We also offer interactive experiences like our Charm Bar and Hat Bar, allowing customers to create something uniquely their own. At the heart of it all is community. Whether we’re hosting events, collaborating with other small businesses, or creating opportunities for local makers to grow, Cristall Boutique is built on the belief that shopping should be personal, meaningful, and fun. We strive to create an experience where everyone feels welcome and leaves with more than just a purchase—they leave with a connection.
My biggest challenge has been visibility. As a small business located in a historic building, not everyone realizes we’re here or fully understands everything Cristall Boutique has to offer. We are so much more than a traditional boutique—we support local makers, offer unique shopping experiences, host events, and create opportunities for community connection. Building awareness takes time, especially as a small business with a limited marketing budget. But every event, every customer who shares their experience, and every new person who walks through the door helps us continue to grow. While it’s been a challenge, it’s also been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey as we’ve built a loyal community one relationship at a time.
What’s next for Cristall Boutique? The boutique is always evolving, and that’s one of the things I love most about it. Trends change, customer interests change, and we’re constantly finding new ways to keep things fresh and exciting. Right now, we’re focused on growing our calendar of events, workshops, private parties, and community experiences. We’re also continuing to welcome new artisans and local makers into the boutique, bringing even more unique products and creativity to our customers. Our goal is to create more opportunities for people to gather, create, and connect—both inside the boutique and out in the community. If you’re looking for a private party, girls’ night, employee appreciation event, bridal shower, baby shower, or another special gathering, we’d love to help make it happen.
Custom charm jewelry, I love hearing the stories behind each charm.

A hidden talent? I seem to have a knack for turning random conversations into events. What starts as “Wouldn’t it be fun if…” somehow ends up on the boutique calendar a few weeks later. Whether it’s a charm bar party, a hat-making event, a book crawl, or a community collaboration, I’m always dreaming up new ways to bring people together. At this point, my hobby might just be collecting ideas and turning them into experiences.
