I wanted to give independent and start up brands the opportunity to work directly with a perfumer to design custom scents for their products and spaces without the steep MOQs or mass market approach of the giant fragrance firms.
I grew up here and I just recently moved back last year and when I did, I began focusing on my business full time. Maine has a very supportive business network community, and I love how businesses support other businesses. The majority of my current clients are out of state so I would love to form new relationships with businesses in Maine that can benefit from what I offer.
Perfumery is unique unto itself as I beileve I may be the only one in the state that offeres something like this. I began my studies in perfumery in 2009 and worked diligently to arrive at the level of expertise I currently reside. There are no traditional schools for perfumers in the United States, more smaller programs are available privately now, but when I started it was really up to me to combine my artistic talents and learn the chemistry that goes behind the design of a fragrance.
One of my biggest challenges is the fact my competitors are huge international firms. There are a few other independents like me and more arriving in the past few years as the interest in perfumers has risen but all in all finding and reaching the brands that are a match for my target market has been challenging over the years. Currently I am growing exponentially as brands now are seeking out professionals like me.
I have 10-12 different fragrance projects that I am currently working on for niche fragrance brands, candle brands and consumer goods brands. I can't say much more due to NDA agreements :)
