After years spent in a fast-paced career, I found myself drawn to the creativity and comfort of handcrafted products that bring a little joy to everyday routines. Inspired by Maine's lakes, forests, coastal beauty, and cozy cottage living, I began creating small-batch soaps that capture the scents, memories, and experiences that make this corner of the world so special. One of the biggest challenges in building Brookside Cottage Creations has been turning a passion into a business. Creating beautiful, high-quality soaps is the fun part; learning how to navigate pricing, inventory management, vendor events, online sales, regulations, and customer service has required wearing many different hats and developing skills I never expected to need. Perhaps the greatest challenge has been getting the word out. No matter how much care and creativity goes into a product, people can't fall in love with it if they don't know it exists. Marketing a small business means constantly finding new ways to reach customers, build awareness, maintain a social media presence, attend events, grow an online store, and tell the story behind the brand. Competing for attention in a crowded marketplace can be difficult, especially when you're handling nearly every aspect of the business yourself. Those challenges have reinforced what makes Brookside Cottage Creations special. Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, I've focused on creating soaps that tell a story and reflect the beauty, nostalgia, and simple pleasures of Maine living. Every new customer, returning order, and kind word reminds me that the effort is worthwhile and that authentic connections are the foundation of a successful small business.

One of the things I'm most excited about right now is developing our upcoming holiday collection. The holidays have always been about traditions—those special moments that bring family and friends together year after year. My goal is to capture those feelings and traditions in soap form.
